The Proposal of a Lifetime
Dustin
proposed in Hawaii on the strip near Waikiki beach. He had arranged
for us to get our caricatures drawn the night of Saturday Oct. 16th. He
was nervous and fidgeting and I thought something might be up but he
did a great job of keeping his cool for the most part. It threw me off
because the artist appeared like he had no idea who we were...just
random people wanting to get our pictures drawn together! As Tiki (the
artist) was finished he looked at me, looked at Dustin and
said...alright...here is your picture. He showed me and it was cartoon
Dustin down on one knee proposing to cartoon Jess. I looked over to my
right and Dustin was trying to get a ring out of his pocket, he knelt
down on one knee, mumbled through a speech that you could tell he had
rehearsed and then blurted out..."will you spend the rest of your life
with me?" I was shocked. It was almost like an out of body experience!
It felt like it took me forever to say YES but of course I did! There
was a small crowd of people around that witnessed the whole thing. They
kept saying "is this for real? is this real life?" ha! It was so
special! So perfect. It makes me a little teary eyed to think about it.
Dustin always makes me feel so special and this was truly the most
perfect way he could have proposed!
How We Met
It was the day after Thanksgiving (Black Friday) of 2009. I had been
driving around my very unsafe and undependable Kia Rio for far too long.
It was time to get a new car. My mom and I went down to Honda of
Superstition armed with information on the Honda Fit. We looked at the
car and decided to take a test drive. Dustin jumped in the backseat of
the car so I could drive the car around the block. He was charming. He
was funny, he was so personable! I kept trying to steal glances at him
through the rear view mirror but I couldn't get a good look. When the
test drive was done we all got out of the car and I realized I had a
major CRUSH! It was embarrassing! I blushed. I giggled. I couldn't help
but smile the entire time we were signing papers. My mom made fun of me
the whole time because I was so googly eyed. I bought the car and took
it home knowing that I had to go back on Monday to get the alarm put in.
I had Dustin's business card and I must have looked at it 1000 times
that weekend. I told all my friends about him! I couldn't stop thinking
about him! I was smitten. Monday rolled around and I stopped by after
work. Dustin got my alarm all set up and was about to send me on my
way. We both just kinda stood there for what felt like 10 years! I kept
waiting for him to say something, wondering if I should say something.
He FINALLY blurted out..."so you should take me out for ice cream."
haha! I told him that ice cream didn't sound like such a bad idea only
I thought it should be the other way around since I just bought a car
from him. We had our first day on December 4th 2009 and the rest is
history!!!!!
Peanut Schrader!
We
are so excited to be having a little bambino or bambina. I feel like we
are both still in that state of "wow this is really happening"! I am
just starting my second trimester (thank goodness!) and I am hoping for a
break from the nausea and absolute exhaustion I have been sludging
through the last few months. Peanut is doing great! Growing stronger and
stronger everyday!
About Us!
Jess is my inspiration. She makes me want to better my life, not for me but for our future. I immediately knew that she was the one, every date, no, every day I'm with her takes any doubts away. I was hooked in by her beautiful smile and her piercing eyes. But, it's her goofy, caring and compassionate character that make up the line and sinker. I couldn't imagine life without her and can't wait until I make her Mrs. Jessica Lynn Schrader. I love and promise to cherish and appreciate every moment we have together for the rest of our lives. I love you Jess, with every bone, organ and molecule in my body.
Dustin is pretty wonderful! I might be biased, but from the moment I met him I knew he was something special. Dustin has a sweet, charming, and sincere way about him. He is honest, hardworking and always makes sure that I know how special and loved I am.There are so many things about Dustin that I love. But one thing that stands out to me is how he just evens me out. He knows just how to calm my fears, ease my stress and just make me feel better. We are such a good team, it feels like we can tackle anything together. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world to have this guy by my side and I couldn't be happier to start on this adventure together!
Hi there!
Hey there everyone! Mr. and Mrs. Schrader here! I haven't updated this blog in..oh...almost a YEAR! So here is a quick update. We had the most beautiful wedding! It could not have been more perfect. We had a blast cruisin' through Mexico on our honeymoon. We added a new fur baby named Henry to our family. We are having a home built in Gilbert that should be finished by the end of August. AND...drumroll please...we are expecting our first little peanut on January 21st! Lots of exciting stuff happening for Team Schrader! I am going to make an effort to keep this blog at least moderately updated so that we can share what is going on with our family and friends! Thanks for reading! :)
